Responsibilities and Tasks

* Become familiar with the Openwave product lifecycle
* Lead a team of QE Engineers, ensuring that QE practices are followed
* Develop Test Plans and Test Specs
* Review Test Specs and Test results from the QE team
* Provide LOEs and produce detailed project plans for QE work.
* Track QE metrics
* Provide guidance and direction to the QE team
* Probe the software under test to breaking point to determine its robustness, ability to handle errors, performance bottle necks and any stability issues under load
* Diagnose test failures and document in bug tracking system
* Verify bug fixes and log detailed results
* Review and provide detailed feedback on product documentation
* Drive Test Automation within the QE team
* Actively participate in Quality initiatives as assigned by manager
* Provide status reports on test progress
* Act as a single point of contact for the QE team.
* Review and improve processes
* Configuration Manage test cases, scripts and results

Essential Criteria
* BSc degree (at least 2:1) in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent relevant to Quality Engineering
* At least 7 years experience software development / quality engineering with at least 3 within quality engineering.
* At least 2 years experience in a team lead role.
* Experience in writing Test Plan/Strategy documents
* Experience in producing LOEs and project plans
* Proven problem solving skills (both technical and non-technical)
* Knowledge of UNIX / Linux administration
* Proficient technical and coding abilities in one of Java, C++, Perl or shell scripting
* Knowledge of web technologies
* Knowledge of relational databases (SQL/ Oracle/ DB2)
* Knowledge Test Tools / Automation, tracking systems & test methodologies
* Knowledge of industrial techniques & application of quality process
* Strong team working skills
* Good Interpersonal & Communications skills, written and verbal
* Demonstrable interest in emerging technologies
* Ability to work independently & prioritise work to schedule
* Ability to follow process and maintain accurate records
* Leader by Example

Desirable Criteria
* Knowledge of:
-Knowledge of load and performance testing
-Awareness of Mobile Telecom technologies
* Experience of High Availability software and system production deployments
